Little Wonders

She picked up a magazine, her feet taping to the song on the radio, for she would be be finding out the gender of her baby today. All she needed was a little patience.

Our lives are made
With these small hours
These little wonders
These twist and turns of fate...

Dowan felt lucky. She was carrying around this beautiful child she already knew she loved so much, her husband was home, and she had a great job.

Why did she feel like that would all change?

The nurse beckoned her in, "Dowan? It's your turn." She said brightly.

Sylas squeezed her hand, smiling a bit. "C'mon, lets...let's get on with it..."

Dowan nodded, following the nurse into the tripod. The nurse took her blood pressure, weight and height, before sending her into the room. The OBGYN had her lay down, giving her an encouraging smile before lifting her shirt to scan her stomach. She began the ultrasound, but what Dowan, Sylas, and the nurse found there was shocking.

"Twins." The nurse sighed, "Dowan, you're having Twins!"

Sylas's eyes grew wide, and he looked at Dowan, shock evident on his face. "T-Twins?" He just stared for a few more moments before a grin spread across his face and he squeezed her hand tight. "We're gonna have twins, Dowan..."

"Twins huh? What are they?" Dowan asked eagerly. The doctor just scan and took more pictures of the babies before smiling at her, "Mix and match. Boy and a girl!" She laughed.

Sylas laughed softly, squeezing her hand. "Wow...I hope we're ready..."

"Let's just hope that she doesn't inherit your sister's genes." Dowan laughed lightly.

Sylas paled a bit. "That...would be bad..."
